Long time no see, everyone! (Seriously, it's been ages) Ah, so recently I found a way to dump and properly decrypt the game assets. Not an easy task, let me tell you. Pulled an all-nighter yesterday, even. But anyway, what does this all mean, then? · 3D models, movies, images, LUA scripts and other stuff will be made available soon, as I plan to upload those somewhere. · This pretty much allows me (and anybody interested) to translate the game into other languages (other than Japanese and English, I mean), although it should be noted that it is not easy and requires patience and knowledge that I assume most of you don't have. · The fact that the game scripts were not encrypted using anything other than Sony's DRM means that, potentially, anyone could edit the game to their heart's content (to a certain extent, that is). As I said before, basic knowledge of how things work is key if you don't want to screw things up. · Because they used Unity (game engine), I'm fairly sure it would be possible to port it to other consoles (VERY unlikely) or even PC. Of course, that's not something *we* could accomplish that easily. This game was designed and coded for a handheld console, after all. I purchased the Japanese version, so naturally everything is, well, in Japanese-- including movies, images, and scripts, although believe you me, it does not make much of a difference. Editing scripts is pretty intuitive and should not prove too challenging. Also, note that this DOES NOT enable piracy; you still have to own a legit copy of the game, as mine WOULDN'T WORK (Sony's DRM, everyone. They did a damn fine job this time), even if I were to upload it. Part 1 (App - movies, VITA live area images, manual, LUA scripts) - 148 MB Part 2 (Game assets - textures, 3D models, CGs) - 113 MB Part 3 (Game assets - audio) - 800 MB Part 4 (Game assets - cast commentaries) - 61 MB P.S: If, by any chance, any of you would be interested in knowing how I achieved this or have any other question(s)-- please, don't hesitate to reach out to me on Twitter (@itssarabruh) or Tumblr (saradesu), as zetaboards and a few other places are blocked at my place of work. Dunno why, don't ask. Edited by L3Z4, August 12, 2016, 8:41 am.

I'm not sure how useful the 3D models will be unless people want to try to make 3D fangames in Unity or make specific renders, but I'm very interested in the idea of the portraits being extracted. I feel like others feel the same, as I've been asked to try ripping them before. By the way, the current OP reads "WOULDN'T NOT WORK", which is a double negative, cancelling out its intended meaning. And I can confirm that there's no real known way to make a Vita game (or even game save data) work on another's profile at this time. I couldn't even move save data from one of my own accounts to another. (That said, I wonder if having access to the decrypted files would inspire any modders to mess with the game...) |

Ahaha, yeah. That was one hell of a typo right there. Thanks for pointing it out, fixed it. As for how to make a Vita game work on somebody else's console, you're partly right; however, there are people who've got their hands on a device called Cobra BlackFin which, supposedly, is able to generate a license file of its own, therefore effectively allowing people to "share" their games with their "friends". Note that this device appears not to have been thoroughly tested and is known to be unreliable, unstable and buggy as of now. In any case, I've been able to mess with the game myself and I've got to say, it's not that hard as long as you've got some really basic knowledge of how scripting works and whatnot. In a way, it sort of reminds me of Dead Patient-- as soon as you've got a grip on how things work, modding is relatively easy. Right now I'm unpacking the game assets. Should not take too long, but there are WAY too many files, and unfortunately I'm not able to unpack all at once, so I'm just here unpacking everything manually, which is painfully tedious. P.S: Uploaded part 1 and 2. Will upload part 3 tonight or tomorrow. Edited by L3Z4, August 7, 2016, 10:39 am.

Ah, it's no big deal! To be honest, I was lucky it was just encrypted with Sony's DRM. Big mistake on their part, that one. On a side note, I'd totally love to look into porting this game to PC. It seems to me it's entirely possible, given that the scripts are in plain text and we've got access to the game assets as well now. Unfortunately, I've barely got any experience with Unity, so it might take me a while to learn even the basics. We'll see. |

While a PC port/remake might be a cool personal project, I'd be careful with that. 5pb. could see that as a threat to sales if they caught wind of it, and that's a quick route to a Cease and Desist, as well as a takedown of any decrypted files that could enable it. The less of a threat to the game's sales we make, the more likely we'll be allowed to keep what we can get. (While I'm not sure decryption in and of itself counts as piracy, making use of commercial assets to circumvent the need to own the original project has been upheld in courts as a case of piracy.) |

I'd personally love to see a fan made Unity port. Considering the game suffers severe slowdown issues with the VITA, a PC port would likely alleviate this greatly if you have a beefier PC. Not to say I don't see the 'piracy' issues of such a project, it still doesn't fully diminish my desire to see one, especially as a legal owner of the VITA original. (Of course, verifying if you're a legal owner of the game is a more difficult aspect of such aspirations of a PC port). |

Yep, I'm fully aware of that. If I ever even get to it, granted, it'd be a personal project and nothing more unless I'm sure it's not going to get me in big trouble. Also, I doubt in this case it could be considered piracy as I merely used the console's own decryption methods to achieve this. So, there's that. Technically I did not reverse-engineer anything or brute-force the encryption key. All I did was trick the PS VITA into thinking it was running the game so that it would decrypt its assets, then dump these. Edited by L3Z4, August 7, 2016, 11:40 am.

Are there any other files in the assets folders aside from the stuff already unpacked? It doesn't seem like the portraits are in the existing pack. Aside from the resources folder (3D textures, BGs, CGs), everything else seems to be texture files for specific areas. (Maybe they aren't DDS files, which all of the existing pack consist of.) |

Yes, but only audio, mesh filters and renderers (?) and whatnot. As far as I know, the portraits are in the second pack. "Resource" folder, atlas0.tex.dds and atlas1.tex.dds seem to be what you're looking for. I haven't really had time to specifically look for the portraits, sorry. Also, the file format originally was .TEX, but I did convert the files to .DDS because that format is supported by most image viewers (I personally use Irfanview). Edit: The portraits might actually be somewhere else, as there are well over 100 files that I haven't unpacked yet, although those don't appear to contain any assets other than scripts and Unity-related files.
